I love this whole series. I loved the dynamics between Cold and Mr poe in the previous books. But for me this is the best book in the series.
We start before the whole series, when Cold is putting his mafia gang together, a gang of unique men that each brings a special skill to the group.
Unlike the previous books, Cold and Mr Poe are not the main characters, in fact the story starts before Cold met Mr Poe.
I love the main characters Mickey Tamberlane the top assassin and Roger Lorre who knows how to push all of Mickey’s buttons. There are lots oh hot rough and sometimes angry sex between the two, no matter how much Mickey tries to to avoid it. The banter of the pretend love hate, between these two is soo good and fun to read.
I also liked how Cold collected his group and the way he operated on their mission to take the city.
I enjoyed learning more about Cold and Micky, but also the other Gentlemen too.
Mafia and street gang stories are some of my favourites and the author delivers an authentic and exciting characters and story. The way the characters do not automatically trust each other, gives it an authentic feel, let’s be straight here, a bunch of criminals getting together for the first time, each with their own agenda, are not going to be instant best friends for ever. But by the end of the book Cold manages to build that trust.
I really feel that this book, shows us why the Gentlemen are so loyal to Cold and each other. It is because they are their own made family.
A really enjoyable fun and exciting read, with some hot sex, and some intense nail biting action scenes too. If your new to the series, you get to start at the beginning of Colds rise in the city, and if you have already read some or all of the other books in the series, This is still a must read, as you get to see what the Gentlemen are made of, and how Cold rose to run the city.
