Raven’s Call by Jaxon Altieri (review)

Review

Reviewed By: Josh Dale

3/5

This is a tricky book to review. It is a fast-paced action adventure with a touch of paranormal thrown in. I enjoyed the fast action, and the plot was solid, I connected enough with the characters to care for them, but the reader is pretty much thrown into what felt like an ongoing story. A little like starting to watch a tv series after missing the first episode or two.

We only got glipses of their personalities. We did not find out much if anything about their history, their ambitions. It was all about escaping to safety.

World building was in short supply too. Don’t get me wrong, what we found out was well written but, not enough to get a real feeling of the world the characters live in. Are there many paranormals? Or are there few? Does the mere mortals know about them?

If you enjoy Young Adult novels with fast paced action, you will enjoy this book.

But if you are looking for a deep paranormal with a deep story world, you may not be fully satisfied.

My thought is that if the author doubled the word count, they could have added the missing information to make this a great novel.

Jaxon Altieri

It doesn't matter who you love; All that matters is that you love.

Biography

Jaxon Altieri is a half-human, half-dragon of Italian descent out to overthrow the world of LGBT publishing. He is also a writer of gay romance and erotica who specializes in pervy erotic cowboy scenes and over the top action sequences that may be too much for romance or erotica.

As a resident of Colorado with a history of writing weird shit and with a degree in business and IT, Jax hopes to enjoy his writing career to its full extent. When he’s not writing, he’s playing with his dogs, listening to metal, or trying to get in his partner’s pants. Oh, he also takes Krav Maga and loves Sci-Fi stuff.
