Oh my gosh! If Cal is a demon prince, let’s just say I will not be too disappointed being in hell, well if he did not torture me too much.
I just loved the main characters of Cal a protective kind of Daddy bear without the hairy body. And Oscar, who is such a strong person, having lived through a violent relationship a few years back, and still suffering panic attacks. Yet he soon has Cal and his two demon brothers Harlow and Mori all put firmly in their place. I am so pleased that the author Gave Oscar some balls and a punchy personality. Too often when there is a protective character the other character is portrayed as weak. Not in this book though.
I also loved Harlow one of Cal’s brothers, who has a larger-than-life personality. He is the source of a lot of the humour, I loved the determination he has in seeking friendship with Oscar. I have a feeling he will be one of the main characters in the next book, along with Bailey, Oscars Best friend. Which should be a very interesting read.
The story is very imaginative, and balanced perfectly, there is a constant under current of danger. The sex scenes are hot and well written, especially in the storeroom of the nightclub. I always enjoy a paranormal where the Human learns that there are other species, and slowly learn about them. This book does not disappoint on that front.
So both main and supporting characters are well developed and feel authentic. The story has a great plot and is well paced, and the story world is vivid and believable.
A very strong and well written debut novel from Lark Taylor. If I did not already know, I would have thought that the author was well established. So, I can only anticipate with excitement the future books from Lark.
Highly recommend this novel.
