This book takes us back to Sammy’s oddball book club at his shop. The characters from the previous books show up as Sammy’s family of oddball supernatural friends grows.
This time we follow Alerion the Demon King and his two new werewolf mates Declan and Troy. They try to enjoy their mating but outside life and duties cause interruptions. Especially the constant battle Declan and Troy have with the Shifter Council, which threatens to force them to take a more hands on approach as being ultra-Alpha’s.
Whilst I mostly enjoyed the story, and the characters, I did feel like there was a little too much sex between the three main characters, or more to the point, we did not get to experience their bonding on a more emotional level. Which for me did not allow me to get fully invested in their lives, like I did with Dre and Sammy.
I also found the story concerning their motley street cat, a bit of a distraction from the story, which was a shame.
Whether reading book two would have made a difference to how I connected to the characters, I am not sure.
