Hello from the snowy Moscow! I’m a Russian author, so my books are usually Slavic-flavored, but my new story is set in a far away country, namely in Wales—although, inevitably, there’s some Russian-ness in it ???? A Dragon for Sale was inspired by my trip to North Wales a few years ago. It’s the land of numerous medieval castles, ancient forts, scenic mountains, and enchanted forests. In other words, it makes into an ideal setting for a fantasy book.

Just in case you visit North Wales someday, here’s my top 5 list of must-see attractions:

Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Even if its summit is covered in fog, it’s worth getting up there—the views are breathtaking.

Caernarfon Castle where Princes of Wales are invested.

The Great Orme, a limestone headland on the north coast of Wales, a very atmospheric place.

The historical Ffestiniog Railway, a picturesque route through the Snowdonia mountains.

Anglesey island with its Beaumaris Castle, puffin watching boat tours, and the village with the longest name in Europe— Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch!

And meanwhile, even if we are currently stuck at home, we can travel with the help of books
