Offbeat Romance

Biography

Back in 2008, as a junior in college, I took a Queer Fiction class.I had never read any queer-centered books before then, and while I respected the LGBTQ+ community, it wasn’t a topic that particularly interested me.But college is a time to get out of your comfort zone and try new things, so I decided to take the Queer Fiction course—and it became one of my favorite classes. That was where I was introduced to some of the most beautiful literature I’d ever come across: The Price of Salt, Trumpet, Giovanni’s Room, The Well of Loneliness, Maurice, Fun Home…These were books I never would have found or sought out on my own. They spoke of love and identity and longing with a rawness and pureness that tugged at me.In fact, after reading The Price of Salt, I felt inspired to write a lesbian love story…and fast forward almost fifteen years later, I ended up writing gay romance! When you pick up an Abby Kaitz book, you can always expect wholesome stories (sweet with some heat), subtle humor, and ensemble casts of eccentric and colorful characters.I’m a Floridian who dreams of snow year-round. I love reading horror but write romance because it’s fun and feel-good—and we all need something feel-good from time to time.
